NORTHTEXAS -- Pregame

I'll admit it. This is a tough one to get up for.

It's the Mean Green Fighting Texas Eagles everyone.
Yes, the North Texas Mean Green are just 30 miles from here.  Yes, ... on any given Saturday (see Sacramento State, Louisiana Monroe, ... even Rice, although not much of an upset over kansas) anything can happen.

And, yes, they ARE rated #7 in the state of Texas.  At least according to Rant Sports ...  rated just under #6 Texas State.

But, the fact is, we should be seeing a lot of Daniel Sams and Sam Johnson in this one if we play this game the way we should.  It's unfortunate we won't have had a little stiffer test heading into Oklahoma, who will have had two weeks to prepare for KSU to coming to town.

If you're really into stats, you can see the statistical comparison between both the Mean Green and Kansas State.  I was actually shocked to see our rushing attack at #6 in the country right now. Impressive indeed.  Klein is also checking in with a #12 rated passing efficiency and we are #8 in scoring offense at 51.8.  Punt returns is #3 and Turnover Margin #8 (+2).

The last time KSU was in town vs North Texas (2010) we traveled out to Denton to see the last game of the Wildcat season and watched Carson Coffman barely eek out a win in the last game at Fouts Field.  It was game to forget.  Daniel Thomas rushed for 269 yards that day.  Lance Dunbar, 270 (That was the leftover defense Snyder inherited from Prince.)

In their season opener, North Texas didn't fair particularly well against LSU.  You can see the ESPN highlights here and what you'll see is LSU rolling up 29 first downs to NTX's 6, and over 500 yards of total offense (316 rushing).  Klein and company should have a field day on the ground and I'm betting Snyder adds just enough wrinkles to keep Stoops busy for the next week without giving too much away.  I've even willing to bet he puts a lot of stuff out there he has NO intention running against the Sooners.  The more he can put on film, the more the Sooners will be left guessing.

North Texas LB Zach Orr:
"(Klein) throws like a quarterback, runs like a tailback and around the goal line, he turns into a fullback." #optimusklein
Roll out, Wildcats.
Also, if you google purple optimus prime, you can actually find one online:

This is not really Optimus Prime but 99.9% of you won't know the difference.
Or even care there IS a difference.
(It's Nemesis Prime, thank you very much.)
And yes, this music is a little too dramatic and not fast paced enough (nor is it set to the Transformers Movie OR Cartoon theme), but I didn't think this Optimus Klein highlight package was too bad:

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't post the Mask's latest on this upcoming game:

Finally, take a listen to this radio talk show host of out of Miami after their defeat to the Cats. Talk about someone who has completely lost it. See, this is what happens when a "storied program" gets beat by Kansas State: complete meltdown.

For the fans, by the fans.

You might be reading this and wondering how you can get involved in expressing your Wildcat spirit like me and many of your fellow Cat fans out there.  This is after all, going to be one of the best seasons in KSU history.  Are you just going to sit there and let it pass you by?  Are you just going to casually follow this epic march to the National Championship while records fall and legends are born?

No, you're not.  You need an outlet just like I do.  So, the way I see it, you've really got several choices to consider.

1) Start your own KSU news magazine and online empire like Tim Fitzgerald at GoPowercat.

2) Start your own viral online presence and hope it takes off like my new favorite celebrity (here doing his Miami post game video):

3) Start your own blog and write about Kansas State in hopes that people find your content funny and entertaining and then recruit people to follow you.

4) Skip all of the above and donate your time, energy, photos, videos, and general fandom to Purple Koolaid as a guest contributor and be recognized on one of the nation's fastest growing KSU websites.

In all seriousness, I want this to be a fun place for you to get your KSU fix as little or as often as you like, and doing that takes a lot of work.  I know many of you have access to resources that I don't, and you attend functions, games, pep rally's, auctions, Cat Backer events, etc. and can offer some great material to the cause.

You will always be recognized by name (unless you want to donate anonymously), and we can continue to build an interactive blog built by the very fans who enjoy what Kansas State is all about.

To that end, feel free to start sending in information.  I won't use everything.  I may not use anything.  But I can almost guarantee there's enough fans out there who read this who would have some pretty amazing stories to tell, photos to share, and videos to watch we'd all find interesting.

Even now, as you read this, you're thinking to yourself, you're dang right I've got some good stuff.  And I've always needed a forum to share it.  This is that forum.  And the more creative, the better.

First person who donates material that gets posted gets to be the first person who donates material that gets posted.

And I might throw in a free steak + a Growel Towel.
